Obituary For Agnes "Aggie" M. Carney

Agnes M. “Aggie” Carney Oct. 2, 1930-July 5, 2021

Agnes M. “Aggie” Carney, 90, of Garvey Manor formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday at the Manor. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late James and Edna (McFeely) McDonnell. Agnes married Thomas J. Carney on Nov. 25, 1950 in Indiana, he preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2014. Aggie is survived by sons: Thomas J. Carney, Jr. of Antioch, CA., Michael P. Carney of LaMesa, CA.; daughters: Janet A. (Allen) John, M. Therese (Dave) McCloskey, Karen M. (Rick) Bacza all of Altoona; eight grandchildren: Stephen and James John, Benjamin, Ethan and David McCloskey, Samantha Bacza-Nelson, Julian and Reina Carney; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Conrad of Eastville, VA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret McDonnell and a granddaughter, Rebecca McCloskey. Aggie was a 1948 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church. She retired as a bus driver for the Altoona Area School District in 1993 with over 25 years of service. She enjoyed working on the reunion committee and her mornings with the Breakfast Club. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602 where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 443 Wopsononock Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601 by Fr. D. Timothy Grimme. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in Aggie’s memory to: Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 S.     So sorry to read of your Moms' passing. I always enjoyed visiting with her and Tom at their home. A loving couple with a wonderful family. Visiting in Texas now so I won't be able to attend and see you all. My condolences, Mike Spalla

    Condolences to Aggie's family. I became her and Tom's neighbor in 1997 and they were always so kind to me. Prayers to you all.
