Obituary For Andrew E. Dalesio, Sr.

Andrew E. Dalesio, Sr. Jan. 12, 1933-Nov. 10, 2021

Andrew E. Dalesio, Sr., 88, of Osterburg, passed away peacefully Wednesday at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Avella, Pa, the son of the late Anthony and Eva Ida (Gazur) Dalesio. Andrew married Zelda R. Powell on January 25, 1957, she preceded him in death on July 30, 2020. Andrew is survived by two sons: Andrew E. Dalesio, Jr. of Osterburg and Lorenzo J. Dalesio of Altoona; a daughter, Eva M. (Michael, Sr.) Kranich of Altoona; six grandchildren: Christina Carney, Anthony Dalesio, Kaleb Dalesio, Adahlia Dalesio, Matthew Dalesio and Alysia Dalesio-Krug; two great-grandchildren: Victoria Marshall and Isaiah Carney; a brother, Robert Dalesio of Washington, Pa. and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a 1951 graduate of Avella High School. Andrew was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and retired as CPO after 24 years of dedicated service. He then owned and operated Zelda’s Restaurant, Dairy Delight, A&Z Food Concessions and 220 Sporting Goods, located in Osterburg. Andrew was an active member of the International Independent Showman’s Association. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting. Andrew enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins and was a longtime fan of PSU and Paterno football. He enjoyed volunteering for Special Olympics and spending time with his family. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be held at Bedford Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Andrew’s memory to Special Olympics of Bedford County, 3025 Main Rd., Bedford, Pa. 15522 OR a charity of your choice.
