Andrew J. Dickson, 47, Altoona, passed away Monday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

He was born in Altoona, the son of Rosalie (Vorndran) Dickson and the late Charles J. “Jim” Dickson. Andrew married Mary Kay Fischer and she preceded him in death in November of 2019.

Andrew is survived by his mother, Rosalie of Altoona; two brothers: Joseph J. Dickson of Altoona and Jonathan J. Dickson of St. College; also surviving, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was a 1994 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1999 graduate from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in business information systems.

Prior to his retirement for health reasons, Andrew had been a Data Analyst for Siemans and Temple University. He later became a bus driver for the Altoona Area School District, assisting with the special needs’ students.

Andrew was a member of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church and had been a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity at PSU.

He loved cars, trucks, electronics and was a fan of the History channel.

Friends will be received from 5-8 pm, Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Catholic Church, 411 Wopsononock Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601, with Fr. Michael Pleva, celebrant. Committal will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Altoona.

The family requests that contributions be made in Andrew’s memory to: Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602/ www.centralpahumane.org.

    Deepest condolences to the Dickson family. Andy and I attended Penn State University together and were both members of Alpha Kappa Psi. He always wanted to be helpful and make people smile. I know he will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.
