Ann V. Soldner

March 8, 1936 – June 6, 2023

Ann V. Soldner, 87, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona following a brief illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Andrew and Ruth (McCulloch) Schreiber.

On September 8, 1956, she married John E. Soldner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona.

Surviving are her husband; four children: Terry Soldner of Ephrata, Beth Lay of Tabernash, CO, Steve Soldner (Joannie) of Butler, and Jennifer Soldner of Altoona; eleven grandchildren: Sean, Karly, Alaina, Patrick, Kira, Robert, Andrew, Maria, Emily, Megan, and Spencer; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Charles Lay and a daughter-in-law, Tracy Soldner.

Ann was a graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from K-Mart in 1998 after 25 years of service and had previously worked at Ward Trucking.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Ann enjoyed bowling and was a member of various local leagues for many years. She also enjoyed camping, boating, and water skiing at Raystown.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altoona, with Father Lubomir Strecok officiating.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

    Dear Family, I only noticed today that Ann died. I am very sorry for your loss. I would have been there had I known. She was a very sweet and gentle person and was blessed to have a beautiful family. I will surely have a Mass celebrated for her soon. Donna (Thalhauser) Houck.
