Obituary For Anthony M. Vinglas

Anthony M. Vinglas March 10, 1942 – Dec. 15, 2020

Anthony M. Vinglas, 78, Sinking Valley, passed away Tuesday at his residence following an extended illness. He was born at home in Tunnel Hill, the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Karbowniczek) Vinglas. Anthony married Trudy M. Riley on June 1, 1963 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on June 9, 2019. Anthony is survived by daughter, Christine (Ken) Watt of Altoona; his sons, Richard (Shannon) of Sinking Valley and Jason Vinglas of Sinking Valley; five grandchildren: Toni (Brandon) Kramer, Phillip (Megan) Watt, Nikki Watt, Kori Vinglas, Mason Vinglas; great-grandsons, Wesley Watt and Oliver Watt arriving in January 2021; brothers: Luke (Rose Marie) of Juniata, Stanley (Dawn) of Ashville, Stephen (Debbie) of Gallitzin and Greg of Ashville; sisters: Theresa Vinglas of Ashville and Rosemary Mattiello of Burleson, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Anthony Michael “Mikey”; a brother, Frank Vinglas and a sister, Kathleen Lynch. Anthony was a graduate of Gallitzin High School. He retired as an Electrician with IBEW Local Union #5 with many years of service. He previously had worked at Blair Electric and as a coal miner with UMW. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Anthony was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pinochle and trips to Wheeling Island. Anthony enjoyed flea marketing and maintaining a pristine and beautifully landscaped lawn. A private funeral mass will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
