Antonio Recchia, 75, Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday at his residence. He was born in Mola di Bari, Italy, the son of the late Vitangelo “Vito” and Antonia (Marchetti) Recchia.
Antonio married Nicoletta Alberotanza on August 30, 1973 in Mola di Bari, Italy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; his son, Vito Recchia (Paola) of Chicago, IL; two daughters: Antonella Jimenez (Jason) and Maria Recchia all of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Siena Recchia and Jayson, Antonio and Julio Jimenez; seven brothers: Frank, Donato, Giuseppe Recchia and families of Staten Island, NY, Joe Recchia of Hollidaysburg, Pietro and Vito Recchia and families of Wilkes-Barre, and Raffaele Recchia and his family of Baltimore, MD; and his sister, Rosa Denigris and family of Chicago, IL; also survived by, Giovanna Recchia and family of Mola di Bari, Italy.
Antonio was preceded in death by a brother, Francesco Recchia and two sisters: Giovanna and Ida.
He was a high school graduate and in 1969, Antonio served his country in the Italian Army. In 1970, he moved with his family to Brooklyn, New York.
Antonio opened and operated, Dino’s Pizza in the Logan Valley Mall in 1975 and added Nicoletta’s Family Restaurant in 2008, both are still feeding the hungry masses of Altoona.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
Antonio enjoyed gardening, watching WWE and he was a fan of soccer especially, the Juventus Soccer Team. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed working in his restaurants; but he especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 3-7 pm on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 3, 2025 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5519 6th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602 with Fr. John Lynam, celebrant.
Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
