Obituary For Barbara J. Sinisi
Barbara J. Sinisi Aug. 12, 1943-Dec. 29, 2021
Barbara J. Sinisi of Altoona lost her courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday. She passed peacefully at home with her loving husband and daughters at her side. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Hippo) Hall. Barbara graduated from Altoona High School in 1961 and the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. Barbara married James M. Sinisi, in Altoona and they shared 55 years of marriage, building a life and family of which she was extremely proud. She is survived by her husband; daughters: Wendy Lynch and husband Tom, Jennifer Peters and husband Paul all of Altoona; grandchildren: Jordan Corle (Jenn), Nathan Corle, Zachary Corle (Brianne) and her twin granddaughters: Annie and Danielle Peters. Barbara was the proud Mema to 5 great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Quarello; sister-in-law, Carmela Marin; brother-in-law, Albert Sinisi and numerous nieces and nephews all of whom she loved dearly. Barbara was proud of her career as a Registered Nurse. She worked at Mercy Hospital for 22 years and then as a nurse for Dr. Sankaran, retiring in 1998. She loved her family above all else and had many friends that she cherished as much as her family. Barbara knew how to care for everyone that entered her life. Throughout her time, she was the nurse to her neighborhood and family, patching up minor injuries with love and care. She was a member at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Barbara also enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends, bingo on Wednesday nights and the occasional trip to Rocky Gap, but truly loved to host family gatherings. Words can not express how truly missed she will be. Her family asks that all who knew and loved Barbara, to honor her memory by passing kindness on to others. Friends will be received from 4- 8 pm on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church at 10 am on Monday, Jan. 3, 2022 by Fr. Ronald Osinski. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to: St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen, 2201 Union Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16601.
