Barbara P. Albright

July 20, 1934-September 26, 2026

Barbara P. Albright, 92, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Altoona, passed away Saturday at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.

She was born in Garrett, Somerset county, the daughter of the late William F. and Mollie I. (Sweeney) Phennicie.

Barbara married Neil R. Albright and he preceded her in death on December 2, 2007.

Surviving Barbara are her three sons: Mark A. Albright (Travis C. Peiffer) of Houston, TX, Gary N. Albright (Cathy) and David B. Albright (Sandy) all of Altoona; along with seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy J. Moser.

Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Meyersdale High School, a 1956 graduate of Juniata College and received her master’s degree in education from Shippensburg University.

She retired from the Altoona Area School District, where Barbara was a 4th grade teacher and reading specialist at Baker Elementary.

Barbara was a member of Jaggard First United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed reading, music, dancing, and traveling.

An especially proud achievement was her participation in the American/Canadian Girls Band in 1949.

Friends will be received from 2-3:30 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

Interment will be held at Alto Reste Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Juniata College in Barbara’s memory.

    I am so sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. She was the first lady my granddaughter and I became friends with when she was at Celebration Villa where my husband currently resides. My granddaughter absolutely loved her as did I.
