Obituary For Beatrice Elmira Piner

Beatrice Elmira Piner Sept. 14, 1937-Nov. 4, 2021

Beatrice Elmira Piner, was born September 14, 1937, in West Chester, PA, the daughter of the late, Beatrice Hughes and James Piner, Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Piner, III. Elmira, as she was known, departed this Earthly home for her Heavenly home on November 4, 2021, at the Jefferson-Bucks Hospital. At the time of her death, she resided with her grandson, Dion Tallie and his family in Ft. Dix, New Jersey. From childhood, she lived in Berwyn, PA, Morton, PA and finally in Altoona, PA, where she resided most of her life. Elmira retired after 26 years of service with Child Advocates of Blair County- Headstart. Elmira is survived by her five children: Paula Holmes (John) of Brookhaven, PA, Glenn Piner of Great Falls, MT, Stephen Piner and Kenneth Piner of Altoona, PA, Tracey Piner of Pittsburgh, PA and her sister, Louise West of Burlington, NJ. She was the Matriarch of her family and proudly cared for a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Elmira will be missed by everyone she made an impression on. Friends will be received from 10:00-12:00 noon, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a funeral celebration will immediately follow in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, at noon with Rev. George W. Bailey officiating. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Her passion in life was caring for others as was evident by her 26 years of faithful dedication to CABC. In lieu of flowers, the family would be appreciative that donations be given in Elmira’s memory to: Child Advocates of Blair County, 319 Sycamore St., Altoona, Pa. 16602.     I'm sorry to hear Ms. Elmira passing.She was my daughter's home visitor from Head start.When my daughter passed she was there for me to talk to and she listen. May she rest in peace.
