Benjamin George “Ben” Nagle
June 22, 1952-May 7, 2025
Benjamin George “Ben” Nagle, 72, of Altoona, passed away at Garvey Manor Nursing Home Wednesday evening. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Benjamin F. and Helen (Glass) Nagle.
Ben married Diana Lynn Seidel on September 11, 1976 in Bellwood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; his two sons: Benjamin James Nagle (Talitha Johnson) of South Dakota and Joseph Lynn Nagle (Stephanie) of Altoona; two grandsons: Kaiden Nagle and Joseph Bradley Nagle; his sister, Kathleen Yon (Bill) of Altoona; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Penny and Bill Burns and Terri and Shawn Ferenzy; and several nieces and nephews.
Ben was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Nagle and sister-in-law and her husband, Sandra and Gary Moore.
He was a 1971 graduate of Altoona High School. After graduation, Ben joined the US Navy and served from 1971-1975 on the USS LY Spear, AS36, Submarine Tender during the Vietnam War.
Ben worked at Garvey Manor for 21 years in the maintenance department and had previously spent 25 years at Boyer Candy as a packer and chocolate processor when he retired in 2020. He had gone on to become an Assistant Instructor for the Career and Technology Center.
He was a life-time member of the Bellwood Sportsman’s Club and the Bellwood American Legion.
Ben enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting and spending time at his cousin Mike’s hunting camp. He especially loved riding his motorcycle with his wife Diana.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm on Monday, May 12, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Andrew Jones. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park with military honors.
