Obituary For Bernadine M. Farrell

Bernadine M. Farrell Nov. 21, 1922-June 20, 2022

Bernadine M. Farrell, 99, Hollidaysburg, peacefully passed away, Monday at Garvey Manor. She was born in St. Augustine, Cambria county, the daughter of the late Louis and Ellen E. (Cupples) Adams. Bernadine married Patrick C. Farrell on Jan. 17, 1959 in St. Augustine. Patrick preceded her in death on May 12, 1985. Bernie is survived by her three daughters: Senator Judy Ward (Bill), Anna Marie Farrell all of Hollidaysburg and Renee Donovan of Herndon, VA; and four grandsons: Bill Ward, Jr. (Ehrin), Adam Ward, David Donovan IV and Aidan Donovan. Also surviving are her neighborhood friends, Patsy Gallagher and Vivian Norris. She was the last surviving member of her family and was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen Davis, Annie Johnston and Louise Schettig; and two brothers: Homer and Walter Adams; and son-in-law, David Donovan. Bernie was a graduate of Patton High School. She had worked for the Hollidaysburg Area School District in food service and had previously worked for Sylvania. Bernie was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Heidelberg Country Club and the Allegheny Senior Daily Living Program. She enjoyed playing cards, pinochle, reading, and baking. Bernie especially loved spending time with her family, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Friday, June 24, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, celebrant, Msgr. Michael Becker and concelebrant, Fr. Alan Thomas. Committal will be held at Alto-Reste Park. The family asks that contributions be made in Bernie’s memory to: Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648.
