Betty Anne Whitfield May 6, 1935 - May 15, 2022
Betty Anne Whitfield, 87, Altoona, passed away Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Greensburg, daughter of the late Jacob and Lorene (Rose) Brown. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles L. Whitfield, on December 29, 2018. They were married on August 17, 1957 in Greensburg. She is survived by two children: Douglas A. Whitfield and Amy B. Whitfield, both of Altoona; and five grandchildren: Brad, Brooke, Brady, Bryce, and Kaylee. She was preceded in death by two children: Cheryl Ann and Gregory Scott. Betty was a 1953 graduate of Greensburg High School. She graduated from Waynesburg College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She was a teacher from 1958 – 1961, and then devoted her time to her family. Betty was a member of Wehnwood United Methodist Church. She was an avid Penn State and Steelers football fan, and enjoyed painting watercolors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Friends will be received on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 1:30-2:30 pm until her Celebration of life at 2:30 pm at Wehnwood United Methodist Church, Pastor Randy Willis, officiating. Interment will be at Alto Reste Park. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, PA 16602. The family requests that donations in memory of Betty be made to Wehnwood United Methodist Church, 2511 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, PA 16601.
