Betty Louise Kimmel June 30, 1918-August 19, 2022
Betty Louise Kimmel, 104, Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Friday at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Russell and Catherine (Walter) Nicodemus. Betty married Lawrence William Kimmel, Jr. on September 30, 1936 in Cumberland, MD, he preceded her in death on March 28, 2003. Betty is survived by a daughter, Peggy L. Coleman of Hollidaysburg; grandsons: Joel Coleman of Columbus, OH and Robert (Karen) Coleman of Franklin, TN; and great-granddaughter, Riley Coleman of Knoxville, TN. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. Betty was a longtime member of Grace United Church of Christ. She volunteered for over 50 years at Altoona Hospital and was active in the Women’s Club of Altoona. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, whose unwavering faith in the Lord was an example for all. Friends will be received from 11 am-1 pm on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, with a funeral service immediately following in the Stevens Memorial Chapel at 1 pm with Pastor Paul Bottenfield officiating. Interment will be held at Alto Reste Park. The family suggests that donations be made in Betty’s memory to: Shriners Hospitals for Children/Erie, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie Pa. 16505.
