Carmela J. Scherden, 67, Altoona, passed away Friday at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carmela was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Savine) Cherullo. On September 27, 1980, she married John J. Scherden at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church by Fr. Alan Polimine.

Surviving are her husband; a sister, Connie Hurley and husband Jim of AZ; several cousins and special friends: Linda Ofiesh, Ed DiSabato and Terry Boyd.

Carmela was a 1970 graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Mid State Bank in the operations center.

She enjoyed reading, collecting stuffed animals and figurines, watching crime shows on TV and dancing.

Carmela was John’s angel, his sweetheart and his cute little Italian girl.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
