Obituary For Carolyn L. Bordell

Carolyn L. Bordell May 27, 1940-Jan. 17, 2022 Carolyn L. Bordell, 81, Altoona, passed peacefully at her residence after an extended battle with dementia. She was born in Somerset, the daughter of the late John F. and Minerva V. (Wolfe) Moser. Carolyn married Duane P. Bordell on October 6, 1962. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband; a sister-in-law, Coleen Kulmatycki of Hesston; nieces and nephews: Kathy and Scott Costley of Vestal, NY, Michael and Yvonne Lewis of Erie, Gustavo and Lisa Castaneda of Florence, SC and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Eric Alan Bordell on November 18, 2005. Carolyn was a 1958 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1961 graduate of the Altoona Hospital School of Nursing. She retired in 2002 as Nurse Manager of Same Day Surgery at the Altoona Hospital. Carolyn was a former member of Simpson Temple United Parish and later a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She belonged to the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and loved traveling. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602 and from 10-11 am on Sat., Jan. 22, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 200 3rd Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Pastor Drew McCaffrey and Rev. Denise Arpino. Interment will be held at Alto Reste Park Cemetery.
