Obituary For Carolyn 'Toots' A. Kennedy

Carolyn A. “Toots” Kennedy Feb. 16, 1925 - Aug. 12, 2021

Carolyn A. “Toots” Kennedy, 96, Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at the Presbyterian Village. She was also known as “Gram” to multiple generations of family and friends. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Raymond & Margaret (Mort) Rabold. Carolyn married William J. “Pap” Kennedy on February 16, 1942 in Winchester, VA and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2002. Carolyn is survived by her two grandsons: Robert T. (Tara) Frank of Hummelstown and Brent J. Frank of Harrisburg, two great grandsons: Joseph M. Frank and Samuel B. Frank, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Brenda Frank; son-in-law, William E. Frank and a grandson, J. William Frank. Carolyn was a graduate of Altoona High School. Toots enjoyed spending time with family and friends particularly her grandsons and great grandsons. She enjoyed bingo and bowling. When it comes to bingo, she often complained “that game hates me”, but loved it when she could shout BINGO. Toots was inducted into the Altoona Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame on March 17, 2002. She was a pioneer in the AWBA. She joined the association as a local bowler and helped organize the Ladies Major League and the Monday Night Women’s Doubles League. She was one of the first directors of the AWBA and served as secretary for many years. She was a regular bowler throughout her life and continued bowling until she was in her 90s. Friends will be received from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 16, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Fred E. Hickok officiating. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Presbyterian Village, Benevolent Care Fund, 220 Newry St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.     Bob & I want to express our deepest sympathy to the family. Toots bowled on our Wed. afternoon senior bowling league for years at the Bavarian Hall. She was always making us smile.
