Charles Richard ‘Rick’ Barr

March 24, 1950-Aug. 29, 2024

Charles Richard “Rick” Barr, 74, Altoona, peacefully passed away Thursday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Walter and Florine (Conrad) Barr.

Surviving are three children: Ryan P. Barr (Amy), Shaun M. Barr and Erin L. Hollen (Ryan), all of Altoona; five grandchildren: Delaney Barr, Deklan Barr, Olivia Hollen, Madalen Hollen and Darby Hollen; four brothers: Frank Barr, Thomas Barr, John Barr and Arnold Barr, all of Altoona; his sister, Mary Ingham of Dysart; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Barr; and a sister, Virginia Mauro.

Rick was a 1968 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He went on to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired as a machine operator from Small Tube Products, Duncansville with over 25 years of service.

He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Buccinese Society.

Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially wrestling and football, which he later helped coach.

Friends will be received from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2024, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, Monsignor Stanley Carson officiating.

    Rick was a wonderful man with a generous spirit and great sense of humor. He certainly made me laugh and put a smile on my face and so many others at the Buccinese Club .... Rick always had your back. God bless you, brother.🙏🏼🇺🇸
