Cheryl A. Wicker

August 31, 1949-October 3, 2025

Cheryl A. Wicker, 76, of Altoona, passed away Friday, October 3rd at UPMC Altoona, after battling sickness and disease. She was born n Altoona, the daughter of the late Leonard Ellsworth and Mary Theresa (Clark) Wicker.

Cheryl was a 1967 graduated of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High and attended St. Francis University, where she obtained her degree and also received her master’s degrees in religious studies and social work.

She was formerly employed with F.L. Smith Machine Company. Cheryl then went on to teach at Bishop Guilfoyle High School and while doing so became a Sister with the Carmelite Community of the Word Organization. She retired from Cove Forge Behavioral Health as well as Blair Family Solutions as a social worker.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Tim Wicker (Betty); and her sisters, Linda Adams (Donald) and Emily Wicker.

Surviving Cheryl are numerous nieces and nephews; her Aunt Lois Butz (Larry) of New York; Uncle Joe Clark (Margaret) of Florida and Aunt Labonna Wicker of Altoona.

Cheryl loved her cats and spending time with family and friends. She traveled the country and visited various other countries. Cheryl loved laughing and having a good time.

Family and friends are invited from 9-9:30 am, Thursday, October 16, 2025 at St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church, 301 Spruce St., Hollidaysburg, PA 16648, where the Rosary will be said at 9:30am. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 am with Rev. Alan E. Thomas. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

After the committal services, you are invited to join the family in the basement of St. Michael the Arch Angel Catholic Church for a time of fellowship.

    I worked with Cheryl at F L Smithe. She was always very kind and a very good person, My condolences to her family. She will be missed.
