Obituary For Christopher Thomas Vaughn

Christopher Thomas Vaughn

September 22, 1958-January 11, 2026

Christopher Thomas Vaughn, 67, of Altoona died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

Chris was born in Altoona on Sept 22, 1958, the youngest son of George and Alberta (Eckard) Vaughn. A member of the Our Lady of Lourdes parish, he attended grade school there, and graduated from Altoona Area High School in 1977.

That same year Chris married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life, Pamela A. (Grimm) Vaughn, and in 1981 the two welcomed their son, Christopher, into the world.

In the mid 80's Chris began working for a small auto dealership which would eventually become Blue Knob Auto Sales. He loved his work, and the people he worked with. Chris was there for nearly 40 years until a stroke forced him to retire in 2024.

Not a religious man, Chris found his peace in the woods of the Vaughn family farm. He'd tell you that his "church" was sitting around a fire with his loved ones, enjoying a cold beer, and talking late into the night. On weekends Chris would gather at the farm with his brother Tim, and their childhood friends Carl and Gary, where they would spend time cooking, shooting darts and guns, 4-wheeling, laughing, and doin other various forms of goofin' around.

When not skulking through the woods Chris could be found watching Jeopardy! and getting every question right. Chris bled black and gold and was a life-long Pirates and Steelers fan. He enjoyed building model cars, going for long drives with his wife, playing video games and watching stand-up comedy with his son, and building Legos with his grandsons.

Chris is survived by his son Christopher; his daughter-in-law Abigail; grandsons Korben and Everett; sisters: Martha (Long), Edna Constance; brother Tim and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his brother George W. Vaughn Jr, his sister Erma E. Cupples, and his amazing wife of 35 years, Pam, for whom he pined for until the day he died.

A time of fellowship and remembrance will be held from 2-4 pm, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that mourners listen to "Man In Black" by Johnny Cash and that donations be made to CasaSanJose.org
