Obituary For Craig Allen Hatfield
Craig Allen Hatfield
August 31, 1967-August 7, 2025
Craig Allen Hatfield, 57, of Altoona, PA, was born on August 31, 1967, to Eugene and Evelyn Hatfield. The youngest of five, Craig grew up surrounded by the love (and the occasional playful teasing) of his siblings: Kimberly Hatfield, Rodney Hatfield, Maurice Fortson (deceased), Keith Fortson, Stacey Chatman, and Tracey Chatman-Silver.
Raised in Altoona, Craig’s early years were filled with sports, laughter, and neighborhood adventures. He attended Altoona Area High School, where he made his mark on the basketball court. After graduation, Craig answered the call to serve, proudly joining the United States Marine Corps.
Craig was a man who knew how to live fully. You might find him with a fishing rod in hand, shooting hoops, hitting the gym, or powerlifting. And if it was Sunday night, there was no question—he’d be decked out in blue and silver, cheering for his beloved Dallas Cowboys. His faith was just as important to him, and at New Creation in Christ Ministry, his voice could be heard lifting praises in the choir.
Over the years, Craig wore many hats—Forklift Operator at Vitro PGW Auto Glass, Car Salesman at Courtesy Motors, uncle, cousin, nephew, grandfather, son, and brother. But the title that meant the most to him was “Dad.” Craig was the proud father of six beautiful children: Tenisha Roach, Jarren Hatfield, Julian Hatfield, Jāiahna Hatfield, Tia Hatfield, and Christian Hatfield.
Craig loved his family fiercely. No gathering truly started until he walked in the door, and when he did, he brought the party with him—stories, laughter, and that big personality that made everyone feel at home. He didn’t just show up; he showed out and left everyone smiling.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, DeLiah M. Hall-Hatfield; siblings, Kimberly Hatfield, Rodney Hatfield, Maurice Fortson (deceased), Keith Fortson, Stacey Chatman, and Tracey Chatman–Silver; children, Tenisha Roach, Jarren Hatfield, Julian Hatfield, Jāiahna Hatfield, Tia Hatfield, and Christian Hatfield; and grandchildren, Lyric Roach, McKenna Roach, Octavia Roach, Jayceon Roach, Ayden Hatfield, Logen Hatfield, Taven Hatfield, Jaxen Hatfield, Ahzora Butcher, and Abdullah Jr. Butcher.
He is also survived by an aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends. Craig will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received from 4-7 pm on Friday, August 15, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Gary Jones.
