David C. Plank, Sr.

December 17, 1929-October 14, 2023

David C. Plank, Sr., 93, Altoona, passed away at Garvey Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Claysburg, the son of the late Clifford and Kathleen (Knisley) Plank. David married Shirley J. Runk on December 20, 1950, she preceded him in death on June 1, 2006.

David is survived by his four children: Tina Grace Plank, Clifford Earl Plank, Sr. (Jennifer M.), David C. Plank, Jr. (Susan C.) and Shelly Marie Wolf (John J., Sr.) all of Altoona; 8 grandchildren: Tiffany M. Shaw, Clifford Earl Plank, II, Justin Matthew Plank, David C. Plank, III, Scott A. Plank, Cristy L. Steward, John J. Wolf, Jr. and Jessica Jean Dubbs; seven great-grandchildren: Noah and Nicholas Plank, Eli and Ingrid Steward, Trent and Andrew Wolf and Cooper Evan Plank.

He was preceded in death by a son Shane A. Plank; a grandson, Bernard Gerard Plank and great-granddaughter, Julia K. Plank.

David was a 1948 graduate of Altoona High School and served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

He retired as tooling supervisor from PPG after 24 years of service.

David was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Jaffa Shrine Logan Lodge 490 and a lifetime member of the Heidelberg Country Club.

Friends will be received from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 and from 10-11 am, Thursday, October 19, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, with the funeral service immediately following in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roy Steward and Military Honors. Interment will be Blair Memorial Park.

    Dave was a wonderful man. He really took care of my aunt Betty and gave her a reason to go on until cancer took her away from us. Prayer for your family joy Shultz
