Dec. 28, 1930-March 11, 2024

David E. Garhart, 93, Altoona, passed away, Monday at UPMC Altoona.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Samuel and Ada (Bollinger) Garhart. David married Kay F. Madera in Lakemont, she preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 2011.

David is survived by his three sons: Ronald Garhart (Marilyn) of Yorktown, VA, David Garhart (Phyllis) of Tyrone and Kevin Garhart (Anita) of Altoona; his three daughters: Joyce Sral (Joe) of Erie, Heather Bumbarger (Richard) of Alexandria and Diana McConnell (Jeff) of Hollidaysburg; thirteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his half-sister, Vada Brinskey.

David was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, he joined the United States Marine Corp and served during the Korean War.

He was a self-employed TV and radio repairman. David retired from the Pennsylvania State Store.

He was a member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont.

David was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns, Heidelberg Country Club and the Horseshoe Senior Dance Club.

Friends will be received from 10-11 am on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont, where the funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11 am with Msgr. Michael Becker, celebrant; military honors will follow. Interment will be held in Blair Memorial.
