March 23, 1952-March 25, 2025

David Edward Watt, 73, Ashville, peacefully passed away Tuesday afternoon at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Frederick and Alma (Blackstone) Watt.

Surviving David is his loving wife, Sheryl-together for 30 years; five children: John Watt, David Watt (Dawn), Melinda Regoli (John), Heather Craiglow (Steven) and Amy Sanders (Bob); nine grandchildren: Tanis, Aspen, Austin, Lexie, Sariah, Calab, Josalynn, Serenity and Temperance; his siblings: Dot Draper (Steve), Ken “Sixty” Watt (Kathie), Betty Murray (Ray), Gloria Watt and John Watt (Edna). He is also survived by his foster siblings: Leanne Johnson (Todd) and Lynn Gregovich and his numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers: William, Fred, Jim, Herman, Robert “Bo”, Richard and Donald Watt and two sisters: Flo Ehrhart and Kathy Wisilosky. David was also preceded in death by his foster parents, Michael and Diane Gregovich.

After he graduated from high school, David joined the United States Army.

David had worked for Merlo Construction as a mechanic.

He was a parishioner of St. Monica Church and a member of the Lily American Legion-Unit 628.

David enjoyed camping, boating, traveling and watching Sheryl catch fish! He was a tinkerer and loved fixing things. David ultimately enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Friends will be received from 3-6 pm, Friday, April 4, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral service will be celebrated at 11 am, Saturday, April 5, 2025 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, with Fr. Brian Norris.

Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in David’s memory to: Lily American Legion-Unit 628, 214 Jones St., Lilly, PA 15938 OR UPMC Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr., Altoona, PA 16601.

    Dave became a Friend along with Sheryl, his wife, his One and Only,2 years ago and felt at ease and his sense of humor was endless! Being with he and his family,especially Don, Brothers & Sisters, and extended family! He will be in our Thoughts& Prayers. Rest In Peace Patriot! Patti B.

    Uncle Dave was an awesome uncle,he always said I was his Dark haired blonde. I always looked forward to going up there to see him and my aunt, I have many memories. although I am immensely saddened. That he's gone.

    Dave...I can't put into words how much of a friend you are to me....you and Don always called me "bro" and that was an honor that no one will ever know.....I cherish every memory of every thing you and I did together at Charles J Merlo Inc....you were a friend and brother Dave and I will miss you......I know you are safe with Jesus now ......Rest easy.....Love you Bro!!!
