Deborah Lenore (Altiero) Black

August 15, 1949-May 29, 2024

Deborah Lenore (Altiero) Black, 74, Altoona, passed away, Wednesday morning at her residence after a 5-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Deborah was born, August 15, 1949, in Altoona, the daughter of the late, Dominic D. and Eleanor (Troiano) Altiero.

Deborah married David L. Black at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, where she was a life-long member, and they shared 53 years of marriage.

Deborah is survived by her loving husband, David; a brother, David D. Altiero (fiancé, Michal) and three sons: Kirk D. Black and wife, Melinda of Mars, Eric D. Black and wife, Jody of Altoona and Adam D. Black and wife, Christi of Hollidaysburg. Debbie is also survived by six grandchildren: Graham, Kade, Jace, Lilah, Finn and Aspen Black; two step-grandchildren: Andrew and Addison. To my beautiful grandchildren: “To the world you may be one person, but to me you are the world.”

Debbie is also survived by a special aunt, Vicki Hughes (Orville) of Bellefonte; two sisters-in-law: Gail Lykens of Williamsburg and Cindy Krug (Dan) of Deltona, FL; many cousins; one niece and two nephews.

Debbie was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. She retired as secretary for the former Christ’s Second Lutheran Church after 22 years of service. She was previously employed by the Butterick Company where she met her husband, Dave.

Debbie enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, reading, exercise class and traveling with her husband. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their school and sporting events.

Friends will be received from 1-4 pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

    Dear David and Family, Deb was an amamazing woman to meet and get to know. I am honored that I met Deb and David, and on of their sons. All of you will always be in my thoughts and prayers.
