Obituary For Dollie L. (Fisher) Perry

Dollie L. (Fisher) Perry

September 26, 1933-July 23, 2024

Dollie L. (Fisher) Perry, 90, went home to be with her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Esther (Fisher) Africa. Dollie married Glenn E. Perry on Dec. 20, 1958 in Winchester, VA. Glenn preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 1986.

Surviving Dollie are her four children: Susan E. Miller, Mark A. Perry (Jackie), Lisa A. Kiser and Janis L. Carrieri (Andrew) all of Altoona; four grandchildren: Joshua (fiancé-Erika), Nathaniel (Cassandra), Michael (McKenzie) and Trent; three great-grandchildren: Avery, Layla and Jettson; also, and her sister, Harriet Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Betsy Drost and Carol Africa.

Dollie was a graduate of Altoona High School and became a beautician, working out of her home.

She was active in church ministry in her early years. That love for Christ reflected in how she touched the lives of not only her children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Dollie also spiritually mentored many young girls, pointing them to Christ.

Dollie was a humble woman. She always took time to talk and made others feel like family.

She enjoyed shopping, and looked forward to spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 1-5 pm on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc. 1421 8th Ave. Altoona, PA 16602. A funeral service will be held at 10 am, Monday, July 29, 2024 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Stewart W. McClelland. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

As a special thank you to all the D-1 staff at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation, who lovingly cared for our mother during her stay.

2 Corinthians 5:8, Absent from the body and present with the Lord.

Dollie was such a beautiful woman inside and out!! On my last visit home to PA (2022), I stopped by to visit with Dollie and we had such FUN talking, reminiscing, and especially telling some funny Family stories!! We laughed A LOT that day and her beautiful smile and laughter warmed my heart and soul!! Dollie was one of the kindest people I have ever known and she will be greatly missed in our Family, but I know I will see her again one day in heaven!! With Love, Sharon (Jones) Futterer
