Dolores R. Simington

April 18, 1948-July 26, 2023

Dolores R. Simington, 75, Altoona, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Wednesday at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh following an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Daniel and Pearl (Ciambotti) Riccio. Dolores married Brinton M. “Rob” Simington on January 21, 1967, he preceded her in death on April 14, 2020.

Dolores is survived by three sons: Robb (Pam) Simington, Meade (Cindy) Simington and Scott (Amber) Simington all of Altoona; her daughter, Captain Tina Simington, Ret. U.S.N. (Joe McCallister) of Leesburg, VA; nine grandchildren: Jared (Raychell), Marena, Brinton, Madisyn, Connor, Reagan, Emma, Britney and Kristen; three great-grandchildren: Rayliee, Amelia and Ellianna. She is also survived by her brother, Daniel (Terri) Riccio of Bellwood and her sisters: Roseanne Himes of Bellwood and Susan Rehm of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Matthew Riccio and a sister, Connie Himes.

Dolores retired as the owner and operator of Maggies Place-Altoona after 15 years of service.

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Dolores was a generous sponsor of those in need, she enjoyed baking and especially loved spending time with her family and supporting her grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 5-8 pm on Monday, July 31, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 900 N. 4th St., Altoona, Pa. 16601, by Fr. Nelson Javier, celebrant. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
