Donald M. Servella

Nov. 5, 1937 – Apr. 10, 2025

Donald M. Servella, 87, Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona.

Donald was born in Altoona, son of the late Daniel and Mary Grace (Roberta) Servella.

He is survived by cousins Kathy and Paul Vincent of Altoona with whom he resided during his illness; special cousins: Pamela Allison Weakland, Dean Allison (Erin) and their son, Dylan, Susan Allison (Dean), Colette DiMemmo Evangelisto, Joseph Roberta (Eileen), Jamie Lenoci (Len), Lenora Weaver, and James Greco (Mona); nephews: John David Vincent and Nicholas Vincent; and special lifetime friends Joanna Verrino and Fr. Carl Spishak and many other special cousins, friends and neighbors from Altoona, New York and Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Sr. Janet M. Servella, Dominican Sisters of Spark Hill, NY and his lifetime friends, Benny Verrino and Mike Cerullo.

He was a 1952 graduate of Our Savior’s High School, Bronx, NY.

Donald spent many years in retail including JC Penny, Kauffman’s, Teek’s Shoes, and Morefield Communications. He was also the prior owner of Rogers Motel.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and The Knights of Columbus.

Donald was a lifetime fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed playing softball and poker.

Friends will be received from 4-7 p.m., Monday, April 14, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Fr. John Lynam celebrant.

Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made in Donald’s memory to: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 5514 Roselawn Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 or to the charity of your choice.
