Donald Michael “Mike” Wagner April 6, 1958-Dec. 29, 2021
Donald Michael “The Old Man” Wagner, 63, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona after complications of Covid-19. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late William J. and M. Genevieve (Born) Wagner. Mike married Cindy Layton on June 21, 1980. Mike is survived by his wife; two sons: Robert (Gina) Layton and William Wagner of Altoona; three grandchildren: Kaleb Fuchs, Aleah Layton and Alec Layton; his brother, Dennis “Dutch” H. (Sue) Wagner and sister, Jane M. Burrows both of Altoona; and nephews: DJ Wagner, Danny (Michelle) Wagner and Josh (Rachel) Wagner. He was a 1976 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and was employed with Curry Excavating as a mechanic. Mike was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Friends will be received from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, January 7, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament with Msgr. Stanley Carson, celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that contributions be made in Mike’s memory to the Adult Center for Exceptional Learning/Parent Group, 154 Lakemont Park Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602. Mike was an awesome person, and friend. He was never too busy to help those in need out. Mike was an exceptional father, and loved his kids, and grandkids very much. Mike will be missed by many.
