Obituary For Dorothy M. Dimond

Dorothy M. Dimond Feb. 13, 1926-May 2, 2021

Dorothy M. Dimond, 95, of Altoona, formerly of Lakemont, passed away Sunday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Alban and Mary (Kyle) Dimond. Dottie is survived by her son, Robert C. “Neil” Dimond; a special nephew and niece, whom she helped raise, Charles Andrews and Kathy Meckley; she is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters and her daughter-in-law, Timberlee Randolph. Dottie worked while attending school at Shaffer Stores Co. on 31st Street in Altoona. She was a graduate from Hollidaysburg High School and went on to work 37 years at Treese’s Drug Store in Hollidaysburg. She was a member of the First Church of God, Lakemont, where she had been a longtime Sunday school teacher. Dottie loved working in her garden, watching motorsports-especially the ‘Indy 500’and professional wrestling. She was known for her love of cats and she will fondly be remembered as the “Cat Lady of Lakemont.” At the request of the deceased, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Arrangements are provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Dottie’s memory to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E.
