Condolences

  • 07/06/2022

I extend my condolences to the Hanawalt Family. My late brother, Mark, and parents Matt and Mary Elizabeth Gable and I lived next door to the Hanawalt family on 29th street for a few years in the mid 1950's. I remember your mother as being a very nice lady, who remained friendly to my mother after we moved to Lakemont. I remember Gaius and Ken especially. Ken was particularly kind to me. Just a few years ago, Bill Ward informed me at lunch that your father, not only took part in the Normandy Invasion, but also personally stormed a German "pill box" which saved many soldiers' lives. Characteristically of that Great Generation, I did not learn of his heroics until a few years ago. Kindest regards, Christopher Gable
