Obituary For Earl P. Rhodes, Jr.
Earl P. Rhodes “Barney” Jan. 11, 1934 – Nov. 21, 2020 Earl P. Rhodes, 86, Altoona, passed away Saturday at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Health. Barney was born in Altoona, son of the late Earl P. and Hazel (Bender) Rhodes. He married Nancy McGarvey who survives. Surviving are his wife of 66 years; two sons: Gary Rhodes (Paula) of Pottstown and Thomas Rhodes of Altoona; a daughter, Kathy Beauchamp (Rick) of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Brian Rhodes (Vanessa), Ian Rhodes (Sara), Janelle Rancour (Mike) and Brianne Cardin (Aryn); five great-grandchildren and a brother, Ronald Rhodes of Bellwood. Barney was preceded in death by a son, Seth and daughter, Jean Hilger. He was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired as a loan officer. Barney enjoyed traveling and following local sports teams. There will be no public funeral services. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School Athletic Department, 2400 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602. Arrangements are by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc.
