Edward A. Brooks, Jr. Sept. 30, 1959-Feb. 20, 2023

Edward A. Brooks, Jr., 63, Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness. He was born in Washington D.C., the son of the late Edward A. and Helen N. (Hudson) Brooks, Sr. Edward married Rhonda L. Green on March 22, 2007 in Altoona. Edward is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda; a daughter, Camille Outten of Altoona; a step-son, Gregory Swann also of Altoona; step-daughter, Desiree Swann of Tucson, AZ; three grandchildren: Gianna Swann, Grayson and Sage Outten; two sisters: Freida Brooks of Waldorf, Maryland and Carla Talley (Maurice) of Fort Washington, Maryland; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine Frazier and a brother, Michael Brooks. Edward was a graduate of Eastern High School of Washington D.C. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked a variety of jobs throughout his career. Edward attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Altoona and previously attended Mt. Jezreel Baptist Church, Washington D.C. Edward was a fan of the Washington Commanders. He was an amateur boxer and was an avid boxing fan. Friends will be received from 11 am-12:45 pm, Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel by Rev. Dr. George Bailey and Rev. Keith Moore. Committal will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
