Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Stephens Sept. 25, 1931-Sept. 24, 2021
Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Stephens, 89, of Altoona, formerly of Johnstown passed away Friday at Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late T. Harold and Edna (McCabe) Stephens. Betty is survived by a niece, Elaine L. Stephens-Motyl of Pittsburgh; nephews: James T. Stephens of Altoona, Jeffrey J. (Diane) and Lawrence V. (Anne) Stephens all of Hollidaysburg; Bonnie Stephens (widow of David) of Pleasant Gap; 10 great nieces and nephews; 14 great-great nieces and nephews and three great-great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by twin siblings: Joseph H. Stephens and Joan Spurling and nephews Michael Spurling and David Stephens. She was a 1949 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and retired after 56 years as a Bookkeeper at McClure and McClure. Betty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg and also a long-time parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church, Johnstown. She loved her pet dog, Muffin, but especially loved seeing and spending time with her family and friends. Friends will be received from 10-11:00 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 312 Clark St., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648, where a funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with celebrant, Rev. Alan E. Thomas. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to: Our Lady of the Alleghenies, Garvey Manor, 1037 S.
