Obituary For Eugene "Toogie" S. Brawley

Eugene S. “Toogie” Brawley June 3, 1948-April 10, 2021

Eugene S. “Toogie” Brawley, 72, of Duncansville passed away at home Saturday, after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Edgar and Ethel (Ensby) Brawley. Eugene married Cathy M. Pattillo on March 31, 1999. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, Cathy of Duncansville; a son, Thaddeus (LaShawn) of Lusby, MD; and daughters, Teresa Brawley of Altoona and Camie Tibbs of Columbus, OH; a brother Cleo Carr of Johnstown; sisters Loretta and Rosetta Carr of Altoona; a host of half-siblings and loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edgar Brawley and a daughter, Cirsten Kennedy. Eugene was a 1966 graduate of Altoona Area High School. He went on to work for State Correctional Institution (SCI) Cresson, where he retired as a Captain after 18 years of service. He attended Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was a former member of Bethel AME Church, Eugene was a longtime member of Park Hills Country Club, was an avid golfer, loved to fish and play cards. He embarked on many travel adventures and cruises with his loving wife. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or services.
