Evelyn R. Yon Aug. 30, 1934-Dec. 4, 2020

Evelyn R. Yon, 86, formerly of Lakemont, passed away Friday at Penn Knoll Village in Everett. Evelyn was the daughter of the late Paul and Evelyn (Calhoun) Broadrick. She married Russell Yon on Aug. 28, 1950 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2017. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline M. (Jerry) Myers of Altoona; three grandchildren, David C. Roth, Robin R. Garbinsky and Eric Yon; three great-grandchildren, Kara J. Christine, Kasie Walk and Michael Garbinsky; a sister, Maryann Dickey of Ohio. Evelyn was preceded in death by a son, Russell, Jr.; a granddaughter, Wendy Jo Roth; two sisters, Theresa Noe and Clara Crist; and two brothers, Robert and Jim Broadrick. She worked for many years at the Blair Christian Home and previously worked at Proctor Silex and the Altoona Shoe Factory. Evelyn also owned and operated J&R Ceramics. Evelyn was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Lakemont. She enjoyed working with ceramics, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends. Friends will be received 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602; where Covid-19 protocol will be followed.
