Obituary For Floyd "Roger" R. Lonsinger

Floyd R. “Roger” Lonsinger April 14, 1938-Feb. 15 ,2022

Floyd R. “Roger” Lonsinger, 83, Altoona, passed away early Tuesday, at Penn Highlands Hospital, Tyrone. He was born in Ft. Washington, Md, the son of the late Edward W. and Dora (Weld) Lonsinger. Roger married the love of his life, Nancy Pruznak on Feb. 9, 1957. Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years; his loving children and their spouses: Roger (Donna) of Tipton, Renee DeCoskey (Scott) of Hollidaysburg, Randy (Debbie), Ron (Dawn), Ricky (Lisa), Robin Williams and Rhonda Noonan (Tom) all of Altoona; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Gordon and Gary Lonsinger of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Brent Williams and a great-grandson, Isaiah Williams; brothers: Edward, Dorsey and Ernest Lonsinger; sister: Joyce Mickel; and son-in-law, Tom Williams. Roger was a graduate of Altoona High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was employed with the Altoona Water Department as a backhoe operator for 34 years and enjoyed being a greeter at Sam’s Club for 7 years. Roger was a life-time member of the Bavarian Aid Society. He enjoyed working on his house and watching westerns. Roger thoroughly loved spending time with his cherished family and going to watch his son Ricky Lee perform on stage. Friends will be received from 4-7, Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery.     Roger & Nancy used to frequent The Corner Table restaurant. It was always a pleasure to serve them. Never came in without smiles on their faces. RIP, Roger!

    Pat & I remember what a father, partner, and fan Roger was to Rick and understand the grief that you all are experiencing. We empathise with your sense of loss while hoping that Roger's memory will evoke, eventually, not sadness but the joy of remembrance.
