Fred D. Reismeier, 90, Altoona passed away Wednesday at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg following a brief illness.

Fred was born in Altoona on November 2, 1933, the son of the late Joseph M. and Madeline R. (Steinberger) Reismeier. Fred was a 1951 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School and continued his education through Penn State. He retired from SKF, USA, in 1995 as Manager of Product Design and Quality Assurance following more than 35 years of service.

Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Alma M. Dixon, his high school sweetheart whom he married in April 1953 at Our Lady of Loudes Catholic Church in Altoona.

Fred is survived by his five children: Daniel (Dolores) of Mechanicsburg, Mark (Joni), Mary Ann (John) Mirobelli and Kathy (Paul) DeLongis of Altoona and Matthew (Lori) of College Station, TX. He also has eight grandchildren: Jason, Michael, Darren, Kelan, Breann, Joseph, Colin and Sierra; and one great grandchild, Parker Mirobelli. He is survived by his sister, Miriam G. Kaylor of Shreveport, LA and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by siblings: Anne, Thomas, and Rosalee.

Fred was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament parish in Altoona where he was involved in a number of parish activities.

Fred had many various interests and hobbies including traveling, studying history, gardening, golfing and fishing but most of all spending time with his family.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. Funeral services will be held in the Stevens Memorial Chapel at 11 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 with Msgr. Michael Becker. Committal will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.

    I had the pleasure of working with your Dad at SKF. A gentleman from Sweden, Inge Rahmqvist was in charge at the time and I remember being at a party when he spoke about coming to Altoona thinking he knew everything there was to know about Ball Bearing quality. But, he said he soon found out he didn't know everything about Ball Bearing quality but Fred did. That was high praise and your Dad deserved it. He was a great guy. You have our sympathy.
