Obituary For Gary Eugene Kelley

Gary Eugene Kelley April 9, 1946 – February 15, 2023 Gary Eugene Kelley, 76, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Oscar E. and Ruth B. (Eichenlaub) Kelley. He is survived by his daughter Amy C. Cornelius of Bethel; son Gregory P. Kelley of Arvada, Colorado; grandchildren Tyler A. and Rylee S. Cornelius of Bethel; brothers Bruce K. and Patrick A. (Marilyn Buck) of Altoona; Aunt Olive C. (Eichenlaub) Neterer of West Melbourne, Fla.; and nieces and nephews: Ehrin C. (Bill, Jr.) Ward of Hollidaysburg; Tarah L. (Aaron) Van Deursen of Chambersburg, Bryan P. Kelley of Pittsburgh, Mackenzie R. Kelley and Aidan R. Kelley, both of Altoona. Gary was a 1964 graduate of Altoona High School where he played on the first-ever tennis team. He studied civil engineering at Pennsylvania State University and retired as an engineer for L. Robert Kimball and Associates. Gary was a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, Altoona. He was active in various Masonic groups including Logan Lodge #490, F&AM, AASR Valley of Altoona, and the Jaffa Shrine. He enjoyed playing golf and flying his own airplane. Gary’s love for aviation continued long after his piloting days were over. He was also a voracious reader. Gary liked playing bingo and cards with his friends at the Altoona Center for Nursing Care. Family and friends will be received from 6-8 pm on Friday, February 24, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a Masonic service for the deceased will be held at 7 pm. Additional visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Saturday, February 25, 2023, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am in the Stevens Memorial Chapel. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park.
