Obituary For George Frederick Kimberly

George Frederick Kimberly Feb. 4, 1933-Feb. 22, 2022

George Frederick Kimberly, 89, Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at Garvey Manor after a brief illness. He was born in Altoona the son of the late George W. and Pauline A. (Smeltzer) Kimberly. George married Valaria C. Chruscz on July 2, 1955 in Altoona and she preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 1987. George is survived by two sons: Matthew Kimberly (Susan) of Altoona and Mark Kimberly (Eleanor) of Lilly; four daughters: Karen Albright (Ray) of Lemoyne, Cindy Hoffer (Kim) of Tyrone, Kathy Burgan (Rick) of York Springs and Jacqueline Steinbugl (John) of Altoona; seventeen grandchildren: Lindsey, Shaunn, Shawn, Nathan, Karie, Steven, Danielle, Ricky, Adam, Bryant, Corey, Tyler, Kohl, Kai, Nicole, Loran and Brett; eight great-grandchildren: Mark, Arianna, Camryn, Halei, Adalyn, Andersyn, Emmalyn and Lilah; a brother, Jack Kimberly of Tyrone and three sisters: Phyllis Shaner of CA, Dottie Griffith of Monroeville and Debbie Huffman of Altoona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Elizabeth Stager. George was a graduate of Altoona High School and went on to serve with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. George retired as Chief Engineer from Time Warner Cable with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Unter Uns, Bavarian Aid Society, Brush Mountain Sportsman’s Association and the Knights of Columbus. George enjoyed going camping in the northern counties, hunting, fishing and working in his garage on anything that may need fixed or repaired. Friends will be received from 2-6 pm, Sunday, Feb. 27, 2022 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Fr. Ronald Osinski. Interment will be held at the Calvary Cemetery. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in George’s memory to: Garvey Manor Nursing Home, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648.
