George H. McClain

George H. McClain, 70, Altoona, passed away Tuesday morning at his residence. He was born in Gadsden, Alabama, the son of the late George and Fannie Bell (McClain) Thompson.

He had married Anna Louise Alexander on December 31, 1975, she preceded him in death on July 9, 2022.

George is survived by a son, Dominic Alexander (Tara); three daughters: Katwana Johnson, Danielle Alexander and Christy Elliot; five grandchildren: Ashley Runk, Glenn Smithson, Keynan White, Dominique and Ciaran Alexander; also his brother, Nathaniel McClain.

He was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Johnson and brother, James Bonner.

George was a 1974 graduate of Altoona Area High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was an electrician by trade. In his free-time, George enjoyed fishing, hunting and especially looked forward to time spent with family.

A time of fellowship will be held from 12-1 pm, Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the Stevens Memorial Chapel, 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 1 pm.

Interment will be held at Oakridge Cemetery.
