George L. Kensinger, Jr. Aug. 24, 1937-Feb. 16, 2023

George L. Kensinger, Jr., 85, Clearfield, formerly of Altoona and Basking Ridge, NJ, unexpectedly passed away in the Penn Highlands Hospital Emergency department on Thursday. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late George L. and B. Ruth (Sackett) Kensinger, Sr. George is survived by a son, Paul G. Kensinger of Duncansville and a daughter, Marilyn L. Conrad (Michael) of Altoona; and a granddaughter, Alexandria J. Gallaher. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Barbara Graham Kensinger on Nov. 5, 2022; his sisters: Lynn Steele and Judith Kensinger Harrison and brother, Richard Kensinger. George was a 1955 graduate of Altoona High School; a 1959 graduate of Yale in Electrical Engineering and a 1965 graduate of George Washington University Law School. In 1978, George retired as a Patent Attorney after previously working as an Engineer with Burroughs Adding Machine Co. of New Jersey which later became Sperry UNIVAC and then UNISYS. George was on the rowing team at Yale and was a noted Contract Bridge player. He was an avid reader, tennis player and enjoyed traveling through Europe. Friends will be received from 5-7 pm, Monday, Feb. 20, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Pastor Philip Waite.
