Jan. 24, 1934-June 3, 2023

George Ronald Edwards, 89, Altoona, passed away Saturday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, the son of the late George Melvin and Geneva C. (Holmes) Edwards. On Jan. 14, 1956 at St. Therese of the Child Jesus, he married Barbara Boldt, who preceded him in death on April 17, 2011.

George is survived by his daughter, Lisa A. (Edwards) Myers (John) of Altoona; two siblings: Jerome L. Edwards of Virginia and Donna F. (Edwards) Rutter (Eugene) of North Carolina; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was a 1952 graduate of Altoona High School. George retired in July of 1996 from SKF Industries after 37 years of service.

George served in the US Naval Reserve from Feb. 1952 to Oct. of 1956 and then went on to the US Marine Corp that Oct. until Feb. of 1960, serving in Japan.

He was a member of The Blair County Fish, Game and Forestry Association and a member of the NRA. George enjoyed several different hobbies: radio-controlled model airplanes, target shooting, hunting and re-finishing furniture. He had a special talent and love for troubleshooting and fixing anything mechanical.

At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or memorial service.

    Ronnie was my brother-in-law, and was a tremendous help in many automotive and home objects. Both Donna and I will greatly miss Ronnie and deeply appreciated his reaching out to Donna every Saturday to share the weekly events. Gene & Donna Rutter Raleigh NC
