George William Boyles, 78, Altoona, peacefully passed away Monday evening at his residence. He was born in Altoona, the son of the late George I. and Ruth (Streightiff) Boyles.
On November 24, 1984, George married Regina (Jeannie) Kohler.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Jeannie; his children: Travis (Jennifer) of Alabama and Christy (Marcus) in Arizona, who were from a previous marriage and Sean (Leah) and Andrew (Natalie) both of Altoona. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Emily, Sara, Kyle, Hannah, Timothy, Kira and Ayden; five step-grandchildren: Alisia, Eddie, Ava, Cierra and Rylan; and three great-grandchildren: Selena, Wesley and Violet.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cheryl.
George was a graduate of Altoona High School, class of 1966. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force. He attended Wayne Community College where he earned a degree in welding. George started his civilian career in Altoona at the Lithcote Co., and then was employed by Conrail and Norfolk Southern Railroad from where he retired.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and had served as the financial secretary for their Knights of Columbus. George was a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society, a member of the CVMA 22-4 and former member of the GWRRA motorcycle group.
George enjoyed volunteering at the churches Lenten Fish Dinners. He looked forward to motorcycle adventures with Jeannie, camping, hunting, fishing, golf and bowling and was very proud of bowling a perfect 300 game. George cherished all of the time he spent with his family, especially coaching his children in their sports. Above all, he held dear to his faith and his loving family.
Friends will be received from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm on Friday, March 21, 2025 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602, where a vigil for the deceased will be held.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 am, Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2716 Broad Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601, celebrated by Fr. Dennis Kurdziel and concelebrated by Fr. James Dugan. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery with Military Honors.
