Obituary For Geraldine "Gerry" F. Stevens

Geraldine F. Stevens Feb. 1, 1924-May 25, 2021

Geraldine F. Stevens, 97, of Garvey Manor, formerly of Altoona, passed away Tuesday at Garvey Manor. She was born in Altoona, the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Stehle) Schoch. Geraldine married John N. Stevens on May 17, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on March 31, 1995. Gerry is survived by her sons, John Stevens, Jr. of Monroeville and Allen (Sue) Stevens of Hollidaysburg; daughters: Sally (Dave) Gardner of Altoona, Tina (Dave) Karl of Altoona and Alicia (James) Baranik of Charlottesville, Va; eleven grandchildren: Steven Gardner, Dan (Julie) Gardner, Kim (Matt) Feigel, Mike (Katie) Stevens, Denny Karl, Tim Karl, Jeff Karl, Anthony (Paige) Baranik, Benny (Chloe) Baranik, Sierra Cobler and Josh Cobler; eleven great-grandchildren and a sister, Ann Weamer of South Bend, In. She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Leslie Stevens; her sisters: Ruth Mower and Delores Fleming; and her brother, Richard Schoch. Gerry was a 1942 graduate of Altoona Catholic High School. She was a very active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also a member of Altoona Women’s Club and enjoyed playing bridge and volunteering at Garvey Manor and Friends of the Altoona Area Public Library. Friends will be received Saturday, May 29, 2021 from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, Pa. 16602, by Fr. Lubomir Strecok. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Gerry’s memory to: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 511 20th St., Altoona, Pa. 16602, Garvey Manor, 1037 S. Logan Blvd., Hollidaysburg, Pa. 16648 or the Friends of the Altoona Area Public Library, 1600 5th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.     My deepest sympathy to all my "Schoch" cousins, Gerry will truly missed. I think of she and her sisters when I work on a puzzle here in my retirement home in Texas!!! Blessings to all❤️🙏
