Gladys E. (Rhodes) Weatherly

Gladys E. (Rhoades) Weatherly, 83, Altoona, peacefully passed away Sunday at UPMC Altoona. She was raised by her foster parents in Claysburg, the late George and Roberta M. Winters. Gladys married Frank O. Weatherly at Leamersville Brethren Church, he preceded her in death on April 8, 2013.

She is survived by her five children: Anita Peel, Phillip, Terrence, Jill and Aprill Weatherly all of Altoona; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; foster siblings, Joy Oakley and Robert Winters of Bellefonte and Benjamin Winters of New Mexico.

Gladys was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Brian Weatherly; daughter, Patricia Weatherly; and grandchildren: Ambrielle and Biranda.

She was a graduate of Roaring Spring High School. Gladys retired from the Altoona Hospital as a cook for the dietary department.

Friends will be received from 10 am-12 pm, Friday, November 10, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, Pa. 16602. A funeral service will immediately follow at noon in the Stevens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Braun. Interment will be held at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

Dear Jill and all of the family .I wanted to say am so sorry for your loss . Mrs Weatherly was a amazing , loving and caring person . My sister and I played with Phil , Terry and Jill we lived on 23 rd St between 7th and 8th Ave I remember going to Simpson head start and my mom worked with Shirley Heath and your mom . Then years later Jill and I went to Roosevelt then high till I moved to Florida and I returned to care for my mom and nanny since they needed skilled nursing . Then I finished my degree in nursing .
