Gladys M. McFadden

October 13, 1934-August 6, 2026

Gladys M. McFadden, 91, of Altoona, passed away Thursday at her residence. She was born in Guys Mills, Crawford county. The daughter of the late George and Ila (Poly) Smith.

Gladys married William F. McFadden on October 18, 1952, he preceded her in death on February 11, 2011, they celebrated 58 years together.

She is survived by her three children: William Andrew McFadden of Hollidaysburg, Deborah Beauchamp (Jim) and Linda Allen (Sean) both of Altoona; her six grandchildren: Jeb Beauchamp (Tracy), Brooke Link (Hunter), Maggie Lewis, Nikki Dull (Jeff), Keegan Allen and Rogan Allen; nine great-grandchildren: Austin and Hailey Beauchamp, McKenna and Colin Yaudes, Bryce, Brady and Layla Lewis, Paisley Olszewski and Liam Dull; her brother, Merle Smith (Mary) of White Oak; her sister: Patricia Massa of Chambersburg and many, many nieces and nephews.

Gladys was a 1952 graduate of Randolph High School of Guys Mills.

She retired from the credit department with JCPenney.

Gladys had a very strong faith and had been a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church-Tyrone and Mount Hope United Methodist Church.

She was a former member of the Women of the Moose-Lodge 2263 and she had been instrumental in the early development of the Mount Hope Golf Course

Gladys looked forward to her Tuesday Mahjong sessions with her lady friends at the Graystone Court Villas. She dearly enjoyed time spent with her family-her loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, where she instilled her great belief in loving everyone. Her favorite Bible verse was Micah 6:8, and it states: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

Friends will be received from 10-11 am, Monday, August 17, 2026 at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 Highway 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11 am, with Pastor Alice McClymond.

Arrangements are thoughtfully provided by The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602.

Interment will be held at Randolph Union Cemetery, Guys Mills, PA.

The family kindly requests, that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Gladys’s memory to: Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 Highway 27, Guys Mills, PA 16327.
