Gloria J. Jay

February 4, 1938-August 25, 2023

Gloria J. Jay, 85, resided in Adamstown, PA, formerly of Altoona, went home to be with her Lord Friday. She was born in Mount Union, the daughter of the late John Robert and Blanche (Wilson) Rhone. Gloria married Ronald D. Jay and he preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by her children: Linda McMahan, David Jay (Catherine) and Michael Jay (Julia); her brother, Charles Rhone (Nancy) and sisters, Shirley Walters and Sarah Yohn. She will be sorely missed by her 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband; two brothers: John Rhone and Frank Rhone.

Gloria loved the Lord and was a member of New Life Worship Center for 40 years. She was a gifted seamstress and a picker at Wanaco until her retirement. Gloria spent her later years as a teachers’ assistant at St. Therese’s Catholic School.

She enjoyed baking, gardening, and serving her family and neighbors. She was a wonderful wife and mother.

Friends and family will be received from noon-2 pm, Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602, followed by a funeral service at 2 pm in the Stevens Memorial Chapel. Committal will be at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
