Obituary For Grace A. Coveney

Grace A. Coveney July 21, 1939 – Feb. 15, 2023 Grace A. Coveney, 83, formerly of Altoona, passed away Wednesday morning at Garvey Manor. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late William Paul Coveney, Sr. and M. Catherine (Wineland) Coveney. She is survived by her brother, Fr. James Coveney of Hollidaysburg; several nieces and nephews; and her little sister, Denise Mesina. She was preceded in death by her two sisters, Mary Louise Blum and Frances Hesser; and her brother, William Paul Coveney, Jr. Grace was a graduate of Altoona High School. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, after 30 years of service. Grace was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Mitri Club, and was an active member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County. She was a friend to animals and was an active supporter of the Central PA Humane Society. Friends will be received from 2-5 pm on Sunday, February 19, 2023, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Monday, February 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church by The Franciscan Fathers. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery. The family requests that donations, in memory of Grace, be made to the Central PA Humane Society, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pa. 16602 or Garvey Manor, 1037 S.     So very many good memories of you Aunt Gracie. Mostly I remember your incredible sense of humor. I remember the funny faces you would make and then laugh. You had a beautiful laugh, it was contagious. Rest In Peace Aunt Gracie.

    Aunt Gracie will always have a special place in our family's hearts. She loved her family and her lifelong friends. She cherished her cat Michael as well. May she rest in heavenly peace ! And is reunited with her parents, brother and sisters again.
