Gregory J. Hoover, 71, of Altoona, Logan Township, passed away unexpectedly Thursday in Huntingdon Furnace.
He was born in Altoona, the son of the late Paul and Ruth (Wyland) Hoover. Gregory married Terri Weidlich on September 27, 1975 in Altoona.
Gregory is survived by his loving wife; a brother, Allen (Jackie) Hoover of Virginia Beach; three sisters: Carolyn Ficken and Linda (Monte) Strassburger all of Altoona and Joan (Thorton) Shepard of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Laverne of Patton; mother-in-law, Jean Weidlich and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard “Pete” Hoover.
Gregory was a 1969 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School. He was part owner and supervisor at Juniata Fabrics for over 40 years.
He was a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Gregory belonged to the Bavarian Aide Society and the Swiss Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, watching Penn State Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Friends will be received from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 8th Ave., Altoona, Pa. 16602.
