Obituary For Gregory Mitchell Kattouf
Gregory Mitchell Kattouf December 30, 1957-December 4, 2021 Gregory Mitchell Kattouf, 63, of Altoona died on December 4, 2021surrounded by his family and loving caregivers. He was born in Altoona the son of the late Habeeb (Hab) and Vicki Kattouf. Greg attended the Altoona Area School District and upon completion worked at Skills Inc. in the sheltered workshop division. He was an active member of Saint George Orthodox Church in Altoona. In his youth, he served as an alter boy and in adulthood was confirmed as a subdeacon. Greg was an active member of the local ARC where he was involved in their choral group the ARC Angels. He also served as a volunteer for the James E. Van Zandt Veteran’s Medical Center. Greg moved to Pittsburgh in 2011. During the years he lived in Pittsburgh, he remained faithful serving as a subdeacon at St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral. He also volunteered at Hampton Township School District assisting elementary teachers in preparing materials for their classes. He was a member of the PACC (Pennsylvania Connecting Communities) and Easter Seal Program participating in a wide variety of recreational and social activities. In 2016, Greg returned to Altoona and participated in the Crossroads Day program. For the last eighteen months, he lived in the Crossroads residential facility. The family extends a special thanks to Crossroads staff for the love and support provided to Greg. Greg enjoyed bowling, dancing, singing, playing Santa Claus, watching golden era TV programs and reading the Bible. Greg will be missed by his sister Sylvia J. Hanna of Pittsburgh, Theodore H. (Jeannie) Kattouf, of Frederick. MD, George Thomas (Melanie) Kattouf of Altoona, nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Jack) Morningstar, Sophia (Bob) Mooney, Melissa (Jon) Lanham, Nicole Kattouf, Amanda Kattouf and Vanessa (Alex) Chatterley, Jonathan (Pam) Kattouf, Paul Kattouf, Damian (Nicole) Hanna, Michael Kattouf, and Anthony (Angie) Kattouf. He also had several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother-in-law Nicholas J. Hanna, grandparents Samuel and Najiy Bahou and Rev. Protocyncellus George Kattouf and Zakeya Kattouf. Greg’s greatest gift was the ability to bring love, joy, and laughter to those who had the opportunity to meet him. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at The Stevens Mortuary, Inc., 1421 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 where a Trisagion service will be held. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Saint George Orthodox Church, Altoona, Father Isaac Danevicius officiating. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Cemetery.
